After the monks moved out, the listed Capuchin monastery in Dillingen an der Donau, Bavaria, was extensively renovated and converted into a guest house for the specialized academy for teacher training. The new design concept deliberately plays with the contrast between historical elements and contemporary additions to create a harmonious combination of tradition and modernity.
This can also be seen in the 30 newly designed guest rooms. Historic details, such as original door frames and exposed wall structures, have been preserved and complemented with modern furnishings, such as customized built-in closets and modern bathrooms. The seminar room, located in the former choir loft of the church, is a particular highlight and provides an inspiring place to meet and learn.
A key aspect of the refurbishment was the integration of a modern lighting concept that does not destroy the character of the monastery. Recessed and pendant luminaires from Lightnet's Matric range were used for this purpose. The luminaires blend unobtrusively into the architecture and provide precise, uniform illumination.
