Libraries are places of refuge, a place of imagination and learning. The new Gertrud Hass Library in Berlin's Neukölln district precisely captures this basic idea of well-being. Architecturally, the building blends imperceptibly into the cityscape, while an interplay of large window areas and plenty of open space, such as the reading garden, interweaves the library with the inside and outside. Architect Wieland Vajen wants his work to invite people to linger. The open design lets in a lot of light and radiates tranquillity.
Lumoplan created the lighting concept in the library based on "less is more". The "Art on the Tree" lighting constellation consists of interconnecting light lines from the Liquid Line series. The unifying character of our product comes into its own in the stairwell, opening up the space towards the top and internalising the timeless concept of the architecture.
