The Birkholm parish hall in Herlev, originally built in 1957 according to plans by Aage Herløw, has been given a new look thanks to extensive modernisation. The aim of the renovation was to preserve the architectural clarity of the sacred space while making it brighter, more inviting and more contemporary.
Under the direction of architect and designer Paul Leroy, the interior was given a new apse and a well-thought-out redesign of liturgical elements: The altar, pulpit and baptismal font pick up on the minimalist design language of the architecture with their clear lines and fit seamlessly into the overall concept.
Special attention was given to the lighting. Our ring-shaped Ringo Star G1/P1 pendant luminaires were installed, among others. With their timeless, classic design and direct/ indirect light, they lend the church interior an atmospheric ambience, create targeted accents and provide balanced light.
The interplay of light and architecture emphasises the spatial depth and underlines the calm, minimalist design of the church.
