The Birkholm parish hall in Herlev, originally built in 1957 according to plans by Aage Herløw, has been given a new-look thanks to extensive modernization. The aim of the renovation was to preserve the architectural clarity of the sacred space while making it brighter, more inviting and more contemporary.
Under the direction of architect and designer Paul Leroy, the interior received a new apse and a thoughtful redesign of the liturgical elements: The altar, pulpit, and baptismal font, with their clean lines, echo the minimalist language of the architecture and fit seamlessly into the overall concept.
Special attention was given to the lighting. Our ring-shaped Ringo Star G1/P1 pendant luminaires were installed, among others. With their timeless, classic design and direct/ indirect light, they lend the church interior an atmospheric ambience, create targeted accents and provide balanced light.
The interplay of light and architecture emphasizes the depth of the space and underscores the church's serene, minimalist design.
