The origami-inspired architecture of the Waterford Fire Station in Kilbarry combines design with functionality in an elegant way. The award-winning building is designed in such a way that emergency vehicles can be deployed quickly and easily at any time. The different working and social areas are connected by an open-plan design. This is intended to strengthen co-operation and the sense of community among the firefighters in the long term and create a family atmosphere.
The lighting concept is an important part of the overall concept. Visual highlights in the stairwell include surface-mounted luminaires from the Basic series from Lightnet. They perfectly complement the design concept of the fire station and ensure uniform illumination that also fulfils the high demands of 24-hour operation.
