In ‘Square 1’, contemporary office architecture and sustainable energy technology are seamlessly combined Made-to-measure luminaires for the headquarters of the Berliner Sparkasse

Today, complex demands are placed on new buildings. A solid, future-proof construction method should be combined with an appealing design and sustainable, efficient technologies that keep emissions as low as possible. The ‘Square 1’ building in Berlin, designed by TCHOBAN VOSS Architects, shows how this can be achieved. The office campus, not far from Adlershof, Germany's largest technology park and media location, is the headquarters of the Berliner Sparkasse. A central feature of ‘Square 1’ are the spacious recreational areas and the highly flexible room concept for an open and modern look. Panoramic windows and glass balustrades on windows, terraces and loggias promote a healthy working environment by optimising the natural incidence of light. All areas of the building complex have been designed to be barrier-free.

It is a particular pleasure for us to be part of this project, as the Berliner Sparkasse headquarters incorporates numerous elements to which we pay particular attention. Starting with variability, which is why we produce each individual luminaire according to customer requirements. Matric light lines, which are precisely fitted to the millimetre, blend with wooden panels to create a memorable sculpture in the lobby. This is continued in the waiting area, where Matric pendant luminaires in the distinctive red of the Sparkasse bank reflect the corporate identity. The corridors were kept wide, perfect for a square custom-made product, also with light lines from Matric. A mix of centric and wide-area light characterises the meeting rooms, where luminaires from our Beam Me Up, Ringo Star and Cubic series were chosen for ‘Square 1’. All series are characterised by exquisite design with highly sophisticated lighting technology and consistently sustainable production methods. The headquarters of the Berliner Sparkasse, which has been awarded a gold certificate by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), embodies the Lightnet philosophy ‘Together for tomorrow’.
